Art print by Sandro Botticelli

The painter Sandro Botticelli is from Florence and was born around 1445. His real name is Alessandro Filipepi, but he owes his nickname to his brother. His brother was so fat that he was called Botticelli, translated 'the barrel'. He is a well-known painter of the Italian Renaissance. Also view all other Renaissance art prints. However, his work is often also considered to belong to the late Middle Ages. His work is difficult to categorize, because he has made very diverse things. As a result, it is sometimes unclear whether he made works at the beginning of his career or later. Sandro died on May 17, 1510.
